Three College of Engineering undergraduates are among 20 UMass students working as productive, educational, and paid summer interns in advanced research labs.

Alumna Rena Bizios, who earned her BS degree from the Chemical Engineering Department in 1968, has been elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences (AAA&S).  Bizios was previously elected to the National Academy of Engineering in 2022, the National Academy of Inventors in 2019, and the National Academy of Medicine in 2015.

Seven College of Engineering students have received awards and scholarships from the UMass Amherst Alumni Association, including one Greater Boston Alumni Network Scholarship, one Senior Leadership Award, and five William F. Field Alumni Scholars awards. 

College of Engineering seniors Jasmine Bogle, Alanna Joachim, and Raveena Dookhan, will be honored with distinguished awards during Undergraduate Commencement. 

Tailynn Yevette McCarty of the Biomedical Engineering (BME) Department is one of three UMass College of Engineering students who are receiving Graduate Research Fellowships from the National Science Foundation (NSF). Each of these distinguished fellowships provides a stipend of $34,000 annually for three years.

Associate Professor Yu Chen of the Biomedical Engineering (BME) Department is a member of two research teams that each received a $50,000 pilot grant from the UMass Center for Clinical and Translational Science (UMCCTS).
